GRANDE PRAIRIE – GPRC Wolves Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of GPRC alumna Jaryn Ruether, to the position of Wolves Women’s Volleyball Head Coach starting April 1, 2016. Ruether has filled the head coach position on an interim basis since December 2015.
Ruether guided the Wolves to a second place finish in the North Division and an ACAC Bronze medal this season. She demonstrated the ability to coach at the post-secondary level as she instructed the team through a tough competitive division.
“We are very pleased to welcome Jaryn as the new head coach of the Wolves Women’s Volleyball Team. Her dedication to the players and the ideals of Wolves Athletics make her the best candidate for moving our program forward. As a Wolves alumna, she is aware of the tradition and culture of being a member of the Wolves and will continue to lead this team,” said says Francois Fournier, GPRC Athletic Director.
Ruether played with the GPRC Wolves from 2007 to 2009 and was named CCAA Volleyball All-Canadian athlete in 2008 and GPRC Female Athlete of the Year in 2009. After playing with the Wolves she went on to play at Brandon University in the CIS as she completed her Nursing degree.
“I was fortunate enough to be developed as a volleyball player under this program growing up. I now feel honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the Wolves program as a coach,” said Ruether.
