The Animal Sciences Department prepares students for fulfilling careers working with a variety of animals, from domesticated pets to farm animals. Animals are highly integrated into our different environments and need to be taken care of in order to maintain a proper life balance.
Student for a Day
As a prospective student, you can book “a student for a day” between September–April of this coming season. Take your love of animals to the professional level and start a career in the Animal Health field. Visit for the day and we will give you a one-on-one day with us.
This is an opportunity to visit the campus and spend a full day with the Animal Health Technology Program. You will be introduced to current students and spend the day with them in labs and lectures, giving you the chance to ask questions and see what the program is about. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought in from local shelters and rescue facilities, providing a lot of hands-on experience within the program. Find out more about which pre-requisites are required to get into this program, and what you will learn as you work toward your diploma.
While you're here, you can visit the residences on campus, some recreational facilities including the cafeteria, and GPRC's working farm. Students in our Animal Health Technology Program are involved in large animal labs, lambing, and calving rotations. When you come for a visit dress for the weather, although we will provide coveralls or lab coats for your official visit with us should you require them. Wear closed toed shoes and hair tied back.
Animal Health Technology is a rewarding career. Become a valued member of a veterinary practice team and work alongside a veterinarian and other registered technicians or in other related fields.
