More About Sazwan, Cate
I am an alumni of SAIT where I graduated with honours from the Medical Laboratory Technology program. I moved to Grande Prairie in 1975 to accept a position in the lab at the Grande Prairie Municipal Hospital. I later worked in labs at Dr. S Hanson's clinic and Proctor and Gamble, and the Canadian Red Cross.
In 1988, I had the opportunity to begin my career at GPRC as the Chemistry and Biology Lab Tech in Academic Upgrading. Since then, my role in AUD has evolved from Instructional Assistant in Math, English and Study Skills to the Dept. Intake Assistant responsible for inquiries, placement testing and academic advising and back to the Math Lab.
I especially enjoy helping students overcome their "fear" of math and celebrate their successes as they move on into post-secondary programs. I have become the resident "proof-reader" for our math modules and spend much of my intersession on developing new dynamic questions for the Test Bank we use to generate random test questions.
At home, my hobbies are gardening, golfing and photography. We are empty-nesters with two adult sons. Now that my husband has retired, we look forward to more opportunities to travel.
