The GPRC Recording Facility is a purpose-built professional installation featuring one large studio with a control room and isolation booth, and three smaller studios with isolation booths and MIDI keyboards. There is also a fixed connection to an acoustically treated recital hall.
We have ProTools, Reaper, Digital Performer, Ableton Live, Native Instruments Komplete and the Waves Diamond Bundle available for software.
Our studios feature high-end preamps, mixers, Focal studio monitors with microphone brands such as DPA, Neumann, Lauton Audio, Royer, Earthworks, AKG and Sennheiser available for use.
The large studio has 5.1 Surround Sound and we have recently acquired a Sennheiser AMBEO VR Microphone for ambisonic recordings.
All of our studios are available to the public for rent by the hour at reasonable rates. We can facilitate a variety of different needs including:

Our Recording Studio Manager
Dr. Shawn Pinchbeck is a recording engineer, electroacoustic music composer, sound designer, lecturer, curator, performer and new media artist. His diverse and award winning career in sound spans more than 30 years, with his creative focus being to explore many facets of audio and music technology with his live and studio recordings, performances and interactive sound installations.
Shawn's work is presented regularly at concerts, festivals and exhibits across Canada and abroad, and he has extensive knowledge of recording studio techniques, live sound, mixing and mastering, surround and immersive audio, computer interaction, physical controllers and software performance environments.
Having worked extensively with contemporary dancers, filmmakers, live performers and multimedia artists, Shawn has collaborated with artists of all backgrounds, providing him with a wealth of experience over different genres of music production.
With MMus and PhD degrees in Electroacoustic Music Composition from the University of Birmingham, UK, Shawn has taught sound and media arts extensively in Canada and abroad at the Alberta College of Art & Design, University of Alberta, Grande Prairie Regional College, Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonia), Baltic Film and Media School – Tallinn University (Estonia), RISEBA University (Latvia) and Liepaja University (Latvia).
