Title: Technology Development Advisor ( 2 positions)
Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures (AITF) is part of Albertas research and innovation system and is helping build healthy, sustainable businesses in the province. Through a suite of programs and services for entrepreneurs, companies, researchers and investors, AITF provides technical services and funding support to facilitate the commercialization of technologies, to develop new knowledge-based industry clusters and to encourage an entrepreneurial-based culture in Alberta.
The Commercialization Division is responsible for establishing AITF as a recognized world leader in technology commercialization in the areas that focus on technology such as energy, environment, biotechnology, bioprocessing, instrumentation, and advanced materials.
The Technology Development Advisors (TDAs) will be responsible for engaging small
and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in their region and throughout the province. The role is to provide industry with technical, product development and business expertise to the individual firms.
The TDA must understand relevant technology, but also provide information on
current product development issues, sourcing of inputs, key business contacts,
customer potential and first-hand experience in technology commercialization.
TDAs will work directly with individual companies on proposals and projects. The TDA positions will be co-located with appropriate organizations throughout the province acting as
a key business development link between SMEs and any number of service provider
organizations throughout the province.
Where merited by industry need, the TDAs will work alongside other support entities
complementing their services to companies. They will form an integrated
network that uses its broad range of expertise and contacts to service all SME’s across
the province to ensure these clients are getting the best possible service.
Successful candidates will have a bachelors degree in business. They must have a minimum of 20 years of business experience in a manufacturing or production setting with 5 years of experience in a key management or senior management role. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking and presentation skills along with
excellent managerial and fiscal management experience.
