Can’t commit to the Student Wellness Intramurals here on Campus? Want to branch out to the city and explore new and exciting sports and club organizations? Well then you’re in luck! GPRC Student Wellness has teamed up with numerous Grande Prairie Sports Clubs and Leagues in an attempt to offer more to you the student. If you and your team of fellow students are interested in trying out a different type of recreational sport, then below you will find plenty of information to get things started.
- To encourage as many GPRC Students as possible to stay active on Campus and in the Grande Prairie Community. The various leagues are designed for all types of fitness and skill levels, as you can either sign up as a first timer trying something new, or register your team as a competitive group striving for the podium.
- To expose the GPRC community to the world of recreation within the city of Grande Prairie and area. There are over 10 sports leagues and clubs, all featuring their own tournaments, league play and special events for the sake of ‘getting out there’ and having a good time.
- To meet new people through sport and recreation. This is certainly the way to do it!
- Participants of this GP Rec initiative MUST be current registered GPRC Students with a valid Student ID Card
- Registration form is complete with current and accurate information. This will be used by League Organizers so they may inform you of important league info and possible changes to schedules, locations, guidelines, etc.
- Participants of 18 years of age - most city leagues have this as a requirement

Looking for a Volleyball league that you can simply go out and have some fun trying your best in an easy going environment? Looking for a little more of a competitive atmosphere? Well then sign up your team and have some fun playing against other fellow Grande Prairie Volleyball enthusiasts! Remember, it’s GP so there are a lot of them! Team Administrators/Captains must complete their team registration at the Coca-Cola Centre on the south end of town right next to the Eastlinks Centre. Lots of teams sign up every year, so this is a way to ensure those who are truly interested are in attendance to confirm their registration. This will take place on Wednesday, September 4th, at 7pm SHARP!

The local Ladies Volleyball League contains 10 tiers of teams ranging from the highly competitive to the simply going out to have some fun and being active. The GP Curling Club has put together a mini league specifically for GPRC students!! Featuring your own opportunity to try out the sport, learn a few things and have a blast playing this Canadian pastime. Have fun each week learning the tricks of Curling and compete in a fun and relaxing environment. Don’t have any curling equipment? That’s ok, the Curling Centre has got you covered, they’ve got everything you need. Can’t drive to the Curling Centre? There’s a bus stop right outside the Centre doors. Simply jump on the city bus from right here on GPRC Campus and make your way there in a flash.
For those wanting to try something new and learn as much as they can, you’ll be happy to know that experienced lovers of the game, will be in attendance to offer you tips and feedback in order to develop your own skills. Each week will feature the teachings of a different skill so you can continue to have fun learning and becoming more familiar with the great game of Curling.
At the conclusion of the curling matches, another opportunity to socialize with fellow curlers will be available in the Upstairs Lounge and allow you to appreciate the essence of Curling – strong social relationships and team bonding. Dinner specials will be offered to all League participants!

Racquet Ball is available at the local Eastlinks Centre on the south end of Grande Prairie. They've always new tournaments and special events opening up, with the added option of Drop In nights. Mixed Adult Squash League
All skill levels are welcome! September 25th is a seeding week and review of the rules and expectations of the league. Players will then be divided into teams and play a ten week league. Playoffs, prizes and pizza party on December 11th in the Evergreen Energy room. All players are required to wear daily wristbands on the court. If you’re looking for a fast paced and entertaining way to stay active over the cold winter months, then sign your team up into the GP Men’s Basketball League! There are two separate divisions, A and B both totaling roughly 20 teams each year. The A Division hosts recent ex-College players to wise veterans of the game, all featuring coordinated efforts as they move up and down the court. Meanwhile the B Division is a little slower and fun for any new comer. Check out their website for details, or contact the league president below. Games are refereed and typically last 1 ½ hours. A highly fun and energizing way to stay active.

Ladies over the age of 16 can come out for a fun night of basketball... just give Janet Braun a heads up at 780-897-1512, or simply for more information about ladies league.
Registration Process: the Team Administrator/Captain, or individual registrant, must provide Janet Braun - League President - with their Full Names, Birthdates, and to which team they will be playing on. Players must be over the age of 16 years old, and cannot be playing on a College, University or High School team while participating in the Ladies Basketball League. There are no team caps, so the more the merrier!! If you wish to register a team right away, simply get in touch with Janet.

Ultimate Frisbee is simply one of those Rec Sports that’s just plain awesome! It’s a great way to play a great a game with some even better people! Get a great experience of competition and camaraderie in an active environment. Sign up or drop in at one of their ‘Open Gym’ nights, and have some fun!
Whether games are played outside or inside, it doesn’t matter, there’s always a drop-in session, tournament or ongoing league taking place that’s a guaranteed time. People of all skill levels and capabilities are welcome to take part in this fast growing rec league.
Season Schedule: Wednesday Evenings from 8pm - 9:30pm at the Grande Prairie Leisure Centre. When you arrive, speak with one of the Ultimate Frisbee Representatives before you start playing.
Team Fees: Drop in Fee - $10 per person (cash only). If you currently have your own drop in punch card to the Eastlink Centre, or Eastlink Membership you may use that instead of paying the $10 fee!
