Applied Research Services
GPRC Research & Innovation provides a number of services in support of GPRC faculty, staff and students interested in and actively conducting or engaged in research.
As a researcher or someone participating in applied research at the College or in conjunction with any of the College's partners, you have a responsiblity to conduct that research responsibly and ethically in compliance with College and Tri-Council Policies, and in compliance with the financial management requirements of the College and the funder.
Intellectual Property Policy and Administration
GPRC's applied research and innovation mandate is guided by two policies specific to intellectual property: Intellectual Property and Ownership; and College Involvement in Commercialization.
The administration of intellectual property at GPRC is the responsibilty of two departments:
1. Use of copyright held by others: contact Dave Tichler email@example.com in the Grande Prairie Campus library.
2. Administration of GPRC-related intellectual property including filing for and management of patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets and intellectual property policy: contact Bruce Rutley, Director of R&I at firstname.lastname@example.org or E401 at the GPRC Grande Prairie Campus.
GPRC has held numerous grants valued at over $17 million since obtaining its official research and innovation mandate in April 2007. There are currently seven research grants available to GPRC faculty, students, staff and GPRC community and industry partners.
Research Facilitation Services
GPRC Research & Innovation provides grants facilitation services to students, faculty and the community. Generally, services are aligned as Strategic and Partnerships, Grants and Writing, and Student Projects.
Because we are a comprehensive community college, all grants come to the institution and not to the researcher.
GPRC Research & Innovation and GPRC Financial Services together lead the management and reporting of institutional applied research and innovation grants consistent with College policy once the grant has been received by the College.
