NW AB Regional Skills Canada Competition
Fairview Welcomes the Region!
For 16 years GPRC Fairview has hosted the Northwest Regional Skills Canada Competition, a Team Alberta qualifying round in the Skills Canada Competition. GPRC is proud to support Skills Canada in promoting careers in skilled trades and technologies to Alberta youth through this competition, held at GPRC Fairview on April 24, 2020.
The Peace Country has produced many skilled workers, and this competition has been significant by giving young people exposure to the trades. In 2018, Jason Cote from Peace Wapiti Academy competed in the Outdoor Power and Recreation Equipment competition and went on to win gold at the provincial and national levels.
Our community welcomes competitors from all over the Peace Country, and we are proud of their achievements. With 16 competitions taking place this year, GPRC Fairview plays an essential role by providing a suitable venue, volunteers, and experts in trades and technology to chair and judge various competitions. Along with St. Thomas More School, and Fairview High School, GPRC is hosting the welding, outdoor power, carpentry, auto, video production, photography, and workplace safety competitions.
