Thursday, September 22nd, 2016
GRANDE PRAIRIE – GPRC has teamed up with Nashville country star and Grande Prairie native, Tenille Nadkrynechny (Tenille) to release a very special project honouring GPRC’s 50th Anniversary this year.
The song ‘Mark on You’ will be released on iTunes for public download on September 22, 2016, the same date the first day of classes took place at the college 50 years ago in 1966.
GPRC reached out to Tenille to create this song with the hope of connecting and reflecting on the last 50 successful years of building post-secondary dreams in the Peace Region.
“Writing a song for GPRC was a great honour,” says Tenille. “Grande Prairie is my home, and I grew up getting to be involved in this inspiring community and amazing college. I’ve definitely felt the spirit in these walls and I loved connecting all the memories I have of GPRC and reflecting on how much the college has impacted me, and continues to impact our community in the process of writing ‘Mark on You’.”
‘Mark on You’ is full of reflections from the experiences of future, current and past students, faculty and staff as well as community members that are involved within the college.
“Community leaders in our region had a vision more than 50 years ago to bring post-secondary education to northwestern Alberta. A vision that led to Grande Prairie Regional College,” says Don Gnatiuk, CEO and President of GPRC. “We are so proud of our institution and supplying our regions learners with the tools and opportunities necessary to make their dreams come true. ‘Mark on You’ is a reflection of our role in our student’s academic lives. We hope they will reflect back on their time at GPRC fondly, and always remember they are a part of why GPRC is so great.”
‘Mark on You’ is available now for download on iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play and Spotify.
