News Archives: GPRC Offers New Technology-based Learning Camps for Kids

GRANDE PRAIRIE– Registration is now open for new, week-long summer camps for kids at GPRC campuses in Grande Prairie and our learning centres in Hinton and Edson.
GPRC Continuing Education has partnered with Black Rocket Productions to offer cutting-edge creative technology game-based learning camps for children aged 8 to 10 years and 11 to 14 years. The week-long camps combine popular games such as Lego and Minecraft to with learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.
The camps start July 4 and continue throughout the summer. Each day campers will spend half the day in the computer labs working on a project and the other half day in learning related activities.
Camp Themes include:
Minecraft Animators – Bring your favorite Minecraft characters to life in an animated short film! Learn how studios like Pixar and Disney make movies like Inside Out and Frozen by using techniques like keyframing, tweening, texturing, and animating rigged 3D models!
Minecraft Designers – If you love the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games, this class is for you! Learn the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favourite Minecraft games.
Lego YOUniverse – In this LEGO adventure you are the star! Pick your favourite LEGO genre or create and an alternate universe to create a digital illustrated story. Whether you want to fight alongside Batman, be part of the Ninjago clan, hang with Ninja Turtles, or go into space with the Bionicles, the only requirement is that you put yourself in the story!
Lego Video Games – Combine your two favorite activities: LEGOs and Video Games! Campers will create their own LEGO characters and adventures in an interactive 2D Video Game.
