News Archives: Mike Lauzon Awarded ACAC Coach of the Year
Monday, March 2nd, 2015
In his final season as head coach of Wolves Men’s Volleyball, Mike Lauzon is garnering richly deserved honours. At the ACAC Men’s Volleyball awards banquet on February 25th, he was named Coach of the Year. At the same time, three of his players were also award recipients: Dylan Tarbett was chosen as the North ACAC Men's Conference Rookie of the Year; Blain Cranston and Dylan Smith were chosen as ACAC All Conference Players. The team finished third in the north, earning a spot in post-season ACAC competitions, playing their first game tonight in Camrose.
“All we have to say is ‘It’s about time!’ says François Fournier, GPRC Athletics director. “We thank Mike for the great job he has done with the team. His time here has been greatly appreciated and this award is well deserved.”
Mike Lauzon is especially honored to have received this award just as he stepping down from his head coaching position. Lauzon became Principal of Sexsmith Secondary School this year, and his professional and family commitments are steadily becoming more demanding.
His decision was announced February 12th.
