Monday, July 21st, 2014
The Governor General’s Academic Medal has been awarded to Ms. Aleshia Jalbert, the student with the highest academic standing at Grande Prairie Regional College in the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Ms. Jalbert is a graduate of the Animal Health Technology program, offered at GPRC Fairview.
The Governor General's Academic Medal is one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. The Governor General of Canada continues this tradition to encourage scholarship across the nation and recognize outstanding students.
The Collegiate Bronze medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma-level, postsecondary program (minimum two-year, full-time duration). The award includes a cast-bronze medal and a certificate signed by the Governor General.
Aleshia Jalbert, of Arras BC, came to GPRC after graduating from South Peace Secondary School, and has consistently achieved excellence in her studies in Animal Health Technology. She is now employed at the Dawson Creek Vet Clinic in Dawson Creek, BC.
“GPRC is very proud to present this medal to our graduate Aleshia Jalbert on behalf of the Governor General of Canada,” says Don Gnatiuk, President and CEO. “Aleshia’s achievement is exemplary, to have accomplished top academic standing at GPRC. The entire College community extends its congratulations to Aleshia Jalbert, Governor General’s Academic Medal recipient 2014.”
The award was very fittingly presented at a celebration barbecue held July 19th in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Animal Health Technology program at GPRC Fairview.
