News Archives: Dig Pink: Wolves Volleyball in Support of Breast Cancer Research
Thursday, October 24th, 2013
In what has become tradition, at this weekend’s Wolves Volleyball Home Opener, the Wolves will raise money to support Breast Cancer with their DIG PINK Campaign.
Dig Pink is an initiative started in the 2011-2012 season, heavily sponsored by Louie and Carolynn Lefebvre and their company Peace Steel along with Kelly and Kerry Boyd, major contributors to Wolves Athletics. DIG PINK is primarily promoted by the Wolves Volleyball Athletes and last year raised $1 319.00 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year spearheading the Campaign Jordan Forrest-Drezet, 4th year Setter describes the event as “a great way to combine our love of the game and raise some money for a worthy cause. Hopefully we can raise more than we did last year”.
With so much effort being put into the organization of the event Wolves Women’s Volleyball head coach John Slauenwhite comments that “the athletes have put a tremendous effort into letting people know about Dig Pink, I’m very proud of their dedication and passion for the cause”.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be accepted at both games and there will be a Toonie Ball draw each day. With all the effort being put into fundraising, Forrest-Drezet adds that “This is a great community event to support so we’d like to encourage everyone to come out and support the Wolves and help us raise a bit of money”.
The Wolves Women face SAIT Friday at 6pm and Saturday at 1pm. The Men play Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 3pm.
