Name: Jeannie Borger.
Jersey Number. Is there a story behind it? My jersey number is #12. I've had that number since junior high so I've always tried to get it.
Hometown: Grimshaw, Alberta
High School: Grimshaw Public High School
At what age did you start playing your sport? What drew you to the game? I started playing basketball when I was 9 or 10 years old on a middle school team. My older sisters played, so I was usually watching their games when I was younger and that inspired me to play.
What is your fondest memory of your sport? There are so many fond memories I've had while playing, I can't remember any specific games that I've played, I do remember all the friendships that I've made throughout the sport and I mostly remember just goofing around with my team!
Any pre or post-game rituals that you would be willing to share? How do you prepare? I don't have any solid pre/post game rituals that I do. Before a game I usually just try to mentally prepare by focusing on certain skills that I want to improve on during that game, or the advice that our coach provides.
What are your future goals? My future goals are to continue with my transfer program to U of A for my Bachelor of Education with a Major in Art and Minor in English. Once I graduate I plan to teach up North or back in my hometown. I also plan to play as much College basketball as I can until I leave!
From Head Coach, Bill Bradley:
Any special game moments, stats you’d like to share? Jeannie stepped up in her very first game and led us in scoring. This was a big moment for her as a first year to establish herself in the league. She has shown she can compete with anyone from day one.
What does this player bring to the dynamics of the team?
Jeannie is the kind of player coaches want on their teams: a vocal teammate, highly demanding of herself, committed to growth, and a great human being. Our locker room is a better place because of Jeannie.
