Peace Country Rising Stars Auditions Open for All Talents
Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019
GPRC business students get hands-on experience organizing the 2019 Peace Country Rising Stars.
GRANDE PRAIRIE - The second annual Peace Country Rising Stars is incredibly excited to announce the beginning of auditions for individuals in the Peace Country. All talents are welcome including singing, dancing, musical theatre, magic, instrumental, comedy and dramatization.
Last year’s winner, Piper Robinson, knocked her performance out of the park. Winning by unanimous decision for her theatrical Shrek performance, she won the first prize of $1,000 as well as the People’s Choice award. She will do a guest performance at this year’s Peace Country Rising Stars Grand Finale night on Saturday, November 23, at 7 p.m. in the Douglas J Cardinal Performing Arts Centre.
The Peace Country Rising Stars competition is organized by GPRC students enrolled in the Business program. The initiative teaches students how to manage and plan events as a team, and how to rely on your colleagues to execute a successful event.
“We are excited to meet all the potential contestants auditioning this year,” says committee member Telsa Shaver. “Peace Country Rising Stars is proud to open the auditions to smaller communities outside of Grande Prairie and hopefully meet some new talent.”
“Thank you to Carolyn Vasileiou, our instructor, in helping our class manage and plan this event for another year,” said Shaver.
Auditions can be submitted online at www.gprc.me/pcstars or in-person. In-person audition dates are:
- Friday, October 25, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Saturday, October 26, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Friday, November 1, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Saturday, November 2, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
In-person auditions are held at GPRC in the Blackbox Theatre Room L104. There is an audition fee of $30 for in-person and online submissions.
Registration, online submissions, and rules and regulations can be found at www.gprc.me/pcstars.
Once auditions have been completed, we will be selecting 10 finalists to move onto our Grand Finale competition.
Cash prizes of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place will be awarded. Proceeds from the event will go towards Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue, the Room of Plenty at GPRC and next year’s Business Program so the event can go on for future years.
