News Archives: GPRC Wolves get set to host 2018 CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) welcomes the community to join in the excitement, as preparations get underway for the 2018 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Volleyball National Championship, March 7-10.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this event,” said GPRC Sport, Fitness and Wellness Director, Ron Thomson. “This is very exciting for our Wolves and we’re looking forward to welcoming our community, participants and all those involved into our national-level facility to enjoy top-level Canadian volleyball action at its finest.”
The championship will feature the top eight teams in the country and will be GPRC’s eighth time hosting an indoor national event.
“This is a great opportunity for our community to get involved, attend the games and support their GPRC Wolves,” said GPRC President and CEO, Don Gnatiuk. “We’re so excited and grateful to have Morris Financial Group and Manulife on board as title sponsor for this event. Their support to our College and Sport, Fitness and Wellness programming is vital to the success of our students.”
The championship will consist of eight teams including five conference champions, two wild cards and the host. As GPRC has taken on hosting duties, the Wolves who have had a season full of determination and drive are excited for the chance to bring home the National title.
“We’re very excited to get the chance to host nationals and play against some of the best teams in the country in our home gym,” said third year Bachelor of Education student, Megan Koch who is an outsider hitter for the Wolves. “I’m excited to see our team’s progression by March knowing that our excitement is building. I am really looking forward to just enjoying the experience with our great team of women.”
