News Archives: GPRC Hosts Energy Industry Update
Wednesday, November 1st, 2017
GRANDE PRAIRIE – Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) are partnering to bring an update on the energy industry in the Peace Region.
“GPRC knows the importance of the energy sector to our region, our economy and our students. The education and training the College provides is vital to the continued success of the industry so we are pleased to host the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers,” said President and CEO Don Gnatiuk.
Chris Montgomery, manager of exploration and production, communications and engagement for CAPP, will provide a free public presentation in the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday, November 7 at 7 p.m.
Montgomery will provide an overview of the current state of the industry, an explanation of the importance of the oil and natural gas resources of the Peace Region, as well as an explanation of existing labour challenges and why newly-trained, locally-based labour will need to play a key role in the success of the industry in the Peace Region.
The presentation will highlight that despite the significant change in the past number of years in energy markets the industry is rebounding and presents exciting employment opportunities, particularly in the Peace Region and especially for new GPRC graduates.
