GRANDE CACHE – Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) has partnered with the Grande Cache Community Programs Society (GCCPS) to open the Grande Cache Community Learning Centre. The centre provides local learners a new space in an ideal location to help better serve the community’s educational needs.
“GPRC is pleased to partner to provide a one-stop shop for adult learning. The quality and reliability of video-conference delivery has drastically improved says Renée LaBoucane, GPRC Manager, Community Stewardship.
Grande Cache students can enroll in a variety of GPRC programs delivered by video-conference as well as non-credit programming which will be taught face-to-face or through video-conference.
The Grande Cache Community Learning Centre is located at 1613 Acorn Plaza (beside Red Apple), an ideal location in the heart of downtown Grande Cache.
“By partnering with GPRC, not only are we providing the required Community Adult Learning Programming (CALP) we are also providing additional educational and learning opportunities to best meet the needs of our learners at the same time strengthening and enhancing our community capacity,” says Yvonne Rempel, Grande Cache Community Programs Society Chair.
The Grande Cache Community Programs Society receives funds from Alberta Advanced Education’s to offer Community Adult Learning Programs to assist with learners in reaching their education goals.
“Through the partnership with GPRC, GCCPS will provide support to our students by supervising exams, scanning material to instructors and having the learning centre open when students have classes,” says LaBoucane.
GPRC Learning Centres offer regional learners a variety of programs and training throughout the full year. Classrooms, computer labs and videoconferencing are available for all students achieving their education at GPRC from afar.
GPRC has learning centres located in Grande Cache, Hinton, Edson and Jasper in addition to the Grande Prairie and Fairview campuses.
“GPRC is dedicated to providing learners with access to high quality and diverse lifelong learning opportunities,” says Don Gnatiuk, GPRC President and CEO. “We are proud to be able to partner with local programs and respond to our region, community and industry demand with opportunity to provide learners with programming designed to give the skills needed to achieve dream careers throughout our stewardship region.”
West Yellowhead MLA, Eric Rosendahl is excited to see this partnership come to life.
“This is great news for the community,” says Rosendahl. “It is great to see GPRC working with the community to collaborate in learning and ensure our regional learners receive the quality education they deserve.”
