The Educational Technologies Centre provides support to faculty and students in becoming more familiar with current and emerging technologies. The Centre focuses on the integration of online and face-to-face delivery methods by supporting the design, development and maintenance of education materials. We provide pedagogical support as well as training and technical support for many different hardware and software tools throughout GPRC, including Moodle, Blackboard Collaborate, and SMART Board.
Our Centre leads teaching, learning, and educational technologies at GPRC, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation throughout the institution and community.
We will champion and promote quality education by: offering professional development services offering course development services providing learning technologies and classroom training that support student-centred teaching and learning at GPRC
Anna holds a Master’s Degree in Education specializing in Educational Technologies from the University of Calgary. While in university, Anna began the development of an Online Course Development Program. This program is facilitated by Anna as a certificate program offered at GPRC for faculty and staff. As the Instructional Designer at GPRC, Anna works on online and blended course development, primarily developing learning activities, consulting, training and providing professional development opportunities that support instructional technologies. She also supports Moodle and audio-conferencing requests and reviews online courses to ensure they meet Essential Quality Standards.
Jason is a GRPC alumnus and has extensive experience as a web developer.
In his current role as GPRC's Moodle Coordinator, Jason manages all aspects of the college’s learning management system. This role includes server management, group and one-on-one training, as well as supporting students, faculty and staff with any issues they may encounter.
Jason’s hobbies include robotics, fabricating electronic devices, woodworking, and cooking.
Dave is a long-time video and graphics enthusiast with a Microcomputer Technician’s Certificate from GPRC. Dave has been with the college since 1997 and has been overseeing academic copyright compliance at GPRC since 2003.
As GPRC’s Digital Resources Officer, Dave provides support for:
application of digital media for teaching and learning purposes
use of digital media equipment which is available on loan
use of technology which is available in the Library including 3D printing, greenscreen filming and audio video editing
transfer, conversion, enhancement and editing of traditional and digital media
As GPRC’s Copyright Officer, Dave is available for consultation on a wide range of educational copyright issues. Dave developed GPRC’s online Copyright Certification Course in 2013 and facilitates this course as a training resource for GPRC employees.
Join me in welcoming our newest member of the Educational Technologies team! David joins us as a Learning Designer. He will be creating, and helping others to develop, exceptional online and blended courses and face-to-face learning opportunities. His output is guided by the eCampus Alberta 2.0 Quality Standards for eLearning, and he is quickly becoming an expert with Moodle (again), and the host of other relevant educational technologies we employ at GPRC. He will also develop and deliver training, and provide instructor and student assistance as needed.
David comes to us from the largest higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates, where he was a teacher, team leader, and curriculum/syllabus designer. He is both an iPad Champion and a Microsoft® Faculty Fellow, and has been responsible for the implementation of a number of innovative app and online pilot programs. His interests include natural history, music, and technology (naturally).
Kat holds a B. Sci. in Geology. She has been working at the GPRC library for 14 years, primarily responsible for the periodicals collections as well as providing circulation and reference services. Kat is an accomplished and award-winning photographer and expert user of various photo and graphic image editing software programs. As an Educational Technologies team member she uses her skills developing promotional and marketing materials; designing original graphics, or editing and customizing images for specific uses. Kat can help with photography-related tasks. She can also provide support with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional or open-source image editing programs, and help with presentation preparation.
As a geologist, she takes part in Peace Region palaeontology explorations and is known for her community outreach activities in the fields of geology and palaeontology.
