Special Screening: Film by former GP resident Adamm Liley
60 minute film - Come On Down: Searching for the American Dream
Directed by Adamm Liley, formerly of Grande Prairie
Distributed by Manifestation Television Inc.
Special Screening 7:00 pm, Thursday November 4, 2004, GPRC Theatre
This film premiered at the 2004 Atlantic Film Festival September 22, 2004 and was then presented at the Calgary Film Festival on September 28, 2004
As described in the Atlantic Film Festival program:
Adamm Liley’s feature-length, non-fiction film about what it is to be American starts with the classic scenario carved out by Jack Kerouak in his legendary novel "On the Road"; a bunch of guys – in this case a bargain basement film crew cram into a cool car and simply drive.
From the capital in Washington to a deluxe whorehouse in Nevada, Liley’s quest for the American Dream uncovers a country that is still wild and untamed, just in slightly different ways that we imagine.
Two 7 minute shorts by director Jay Dahl (from Leduc, AB) which premiered at the 2004 Toronto Film Festival will also be included in this special evening of entertainment by Canadian film makers.
Tickets - $10.00 each - available at the GPRC Advancement Office (D218) or at the door. Call 539-2021 for further information.
Proceeds from this special screening will support the GPRC Theatre Heritage Project.
