More About Tan, Weixing
Dr. Tan completed his PhD in Ecophysiology/Wood Chemistry from the University of Toronto in 1992 and worked as postdoctoral/scientist from 1992-94 (plant biology and climate change) with the Canadian Forest Service. His BSc and MSc are in forestry and ecology, respectively. From 1996 to 2015 he was employed as a tenured instructor/coordinator at GPRC, teaching forestry, biology and science; and since 2015 as Principal Investigator/Manager for the Pollutants-to-Products (P2P) initiative. With over 30 years in R&D, Dr. Tan has been instrumental in implementing seven industry-sponsored projects at $3.5M, including $2.3M from Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council. He has published 15 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and presented his work at many international and local conferences/workshops.
Dr. Tan is the inventor of two patents granted recently in Canada, one of which has been filed globally with GPRC. Dr. Tan is also involved in a key role of two other inventions under preparation.
