From picture framer to ceramic technician to freelance graphic artist to gallery technician and curator to fine arts technician and instructor, Doug Wills has maintained a career in the Arts from the age of 15.
He has created work using a vast array of media from clay to chicken bones, dryer lint to digital prints, gold leaf to gauze, and has designed logos, business cards, catalogues, and books for organizations and individuals.
In 2009 he designed the successful ‘bid book’ which was instrumental in bringing the 2010 Arctic Winter Games to Grande Prairie.
Working with his wife Tina Martel they designed and illustrated her multi-award winning book Not In The Pink in 2014.
His book design entitled The Calgary Project: A City Map in Verse and Visual was nominated in the category of Book Illustration at the 2015 Alberta Book Publishing Awards.
He has also created projects for Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, City of Grande Prairie, and Grande Prairie Regional College.
Doug has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics, printmaking and sculpture from the University of Calgary and a Professional Certificate in Multimedia Technology from the University of Lethbridge.
