Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship
Heavy Equipment Technicians maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy vehicles and industrial equipment. Maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment may include internal combustion engines, tracked equipment, rubber-tired equipment, or other off-highway vehicles. Heavy Equipment Technicians are employed by specialized repair shops and organizations that own or lease heavy equipment used in the construction, mining, forestry, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, agriculture and the transportation industries.

ThinkBIG Service Technician Diploma
The ThinkBIG Service Technician program is a unique partnership between GPRC, Caterpillar Inc., and Finning Canada, Caterpillar’s largest dealership worldwide. GPRC is the only post-secondary institution in Canada to offer this globally recognized training program, which is custom-formulated to meet Alberta Apprenticeship examination requirements. Students gain highly technical knowledge and hands-on skills directly related to Cat® equipment. Finning Service Technicians put analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to use in an active and physical work environment.
- Possible Careers Include: Employment with Finning Canada, heavy equipment industry, Alberta & Industry Training Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship completion and Heavy Equipment Technician journeyperson certification.
