Office Administration offers programs that give you critical skills needed to succeed in a dynamic office environment. You will graduate with professional skills in communications, interpersonal relations, and office technology which are highly sought by all employers.
Our highly successful work placement program helps graduates find work in their chosen field, in fact, within three months of graduating 85 percent of our graduates find employment. We are proud of the relationships we have developed with business and industry that give our graduates excellent opportunities to enter and advance in careers such as administrative assistant, bookkeeping assistant, accounting technicians and receptionists.
All students complete the program’s core courses as well as courses in a specialization of either Office Administration, Basic Bookkeeping, Legal or Oil and Gas, as well as thorough training on all Microsoft Office programs with the option to earn Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
Office Administration Certificate
In the General Certificate program students will gain over 400 hours of Microsoft Office instruction that will allow them to harness the full power of Microsoft Office. Graduates of this program will enter todays extremely challenging job market with the advantage of being certified as an expert user of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Graduates of this major will be highly sought after as Microsoft Office Specialists in numerous positions including office support, administrative assistant and government office clerks.

Basic Bookkeeping Certificate
A Basic Bookkeeping Certificate gives students the training that will lead to employment as a bookkeeper, bookkeeping assistant, accounts receivable/payable clerk, payroll assistant or accounting technician. Employers are always looking for ambitious employees who have the skills and training for these positions.
The Legal Certificate is designed for students who have chosen a career working in a legal office. Students will master legal vocabulary, legal office procedures and legal relations. Graduates of this major will enter the work force as legal assistants, legal secretaries, court house office support and company legal department’s legal assistants.
Unit Clerk Certificate
Unit Clerks play a vital role in hospitals and clinics by managing the flow of information. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for a future in the health care field through practical courses such as medical terminology, office procedures, and pharmacology.
Offered through the Department of Nursing Education & Health Studies, this Certificate can be completed through face-to-face instruction as well as through distance education to students across Alberta.

Oil & Gas Certificate
Students who are considering a career in the petroleum and gas industry, should consider this specialization. After completing courses like Oil and Gas Terminology, Bookkeeping and Office Procedures, successful completion of this program will lead to entry-level office support or assistant positions in the oil and gas industry.
Dental Office Certificate
This program is currently under review, and will not be accepting students for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Graduates of this program play a vital role in dental offices, managing clients and the flow of information. After completing courses like dental sciences terminology, dental office procedures, and work experience, graduates of the Dental Office Certificate program can expect to work on the front lines of patient care within dental offices.
