Introduction to Stained Glass (ISG01)
2 days of class time during which you will cover all the fundamentals of stained glass, including both the "Tiffany" copper foil method and the “Traditional Lead” method.
You will learn how to develop a workable stained glass pattern, to cut glass, work with various tools designed for stained glass, using lead strips or the copper foil method, how to solder, frame panels with zinc, make hooks for hanging, use patinas, and how to clean a completed project.
• Day one - Create a project using the tiffany style method which you learn the basic of stained glass.
• Day two – Create a leaded panel project incorporating the project from day one into the panel that you build - then frame it with zinc so it is ready to hang .
There will be a 1 hour break or you can bring your own lunch and keep working if you finish lunch early.
You will leave this class ready to go forward to work with either Foil or Leaded Method of stained glass. Each individual is unique and works in their own individual way.
Our ultimate goal is to have you leave able to build on the skills you've learned and continue to build beautiful glass art projects.
All tools and materials are provided and included in the class fee. (If a student wants to, extra glass can be purchased at a cost of $10-15 per square foot.)
