Equine Colt Starting Clinic (EQ008)
This intensive four-day workshop with Mel Hyland, hall of fame rodeo champion, will provide hands-on colt starting with a colt or young horse of the students' choosing*. It includes haltering, leading, round pen training, saddling and riding. Students supply their own animal and equipment (halter, bridle, saddle, etc.). Students must be experienced riders.
*Colts/horses must be manageable and meet requirements of the College’s equine health policy.

Instructor, Mel Hyland, is a Hall of Fame rodeo champion cowboy now living in the High Prairie area with 30 years of colt-starting experience and has been teaching since 1985. He has been involved in judging, has attended the Mane Event in Red Deer and is a winner of the colt-starting challenge in Brandon, Manitoba.
Colt or young horse to be started (2-3 year olds)
All equipment (halters, bridles, saddles, etc.)
