The Arts and Education Department requires an Education Coordinator to coordinate the GPRC Education Program and teach ED2510-Introduction to the Profession of Teaching; ED2530-Orientation to Teaching; ED2000-Educational Psychology for Teaching; and undergraduate courses in the successful candidateís discipline of expertise.
A Bachelorís Degree in Education, a Masterís Degree in an Educational Discipline (e.g. Educational Psychology, Educational Leadership, Educational Policy Studies, Curriculum, etc.) and a Teaching Certificate are required. Relatively recent experience teaching in the North American public school system is required; equivalent experiences will be considered. A Ph.D. in disciplines within the Humanities or Social Sciences, experience teaching in post-secondary educational institutions and familiarity with educational technologies are preferred.
Candidates must be able to recruit teachers for observational practicums and to solve problems that may arise between teachers and practicum students. Strong written and verbal communication skills, an enthusiasm for the teaching profession, a willingness to participate in continuing professional development, and a willingness to remain current concerning teaching and learning in the K-12 system would be beneficial.
This full-time sessional position will commence August 15, 2014, and end April 30, 2015; and may be renewable subject to budgetary approval and favorable evaluation.
