The Theatre and Events Manager manages and administrates all aspects, functions, equipment and personnel for the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre and College events.
This position also provides specialized leadership in theatrical and event production/management. Some of the duties are listed below.
-Act as main point of contact for the Douglas Cardinal Performing Arts Centre; represent the Centre to the media when necessary.
-Hire, train and supervise full-time/part-time staff, contract personnel, sound or video production companies, volunteers and others related to Theatre and Events to ensure that the appropriate support is available; ensure workload/schedules are appropriate; conduct performance appraisals as applicable.
- Must be able to motivate and supervise, staff and volunteers during specific events in various venues both here in Grande Prairie and Fairview.
-Plan, budget and coordinate professional development training; maintain vacation schedules and approve absences.
-Be responsible for standard College financial procedures in relation to Theatre and Events, and have signing authority to policy maximum on related financial accounts.
-Prepare preliminary analysis for capital, operational and ancillary budgets, including monthly spreadsheet/reports for mid-year budget review
-Ensure all invoicing, billing, requisitions and financial paperwork are completed.
-Plan, budget and coordinate implementation of professional development training for all Theatre and Events staff.
-Create and keep current policies and procedures relating to the use and booking of Theatre and Events support.
-Maintain an advanced understanding of related technologies and their implications, how they interface and their appropriate use to Theatre operations.
-Accept/evaluate/process Theatre bookings and other College event requests in relation to the priorities and direction of the College mandate; be responsible for public relations and conflict resolution regarding Theatre activities.
-Determine yearly program of and timelines for Theatre and other events.
-Contact artists to negotiate and prepare contracts; arrange transportation/ accommodations as needed and secure payments.
-Prepare publications and announcement of event descriptions and schedules.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required, plus detailed knowledge of audio/video/lighting systems and/or production; extensive proficiency in computer applications; and excellent organizational/interpersonal skills.
This full-time, permanent position will commence as soon as possible. Grande Prairie Regional College offers an attractive benefits package and a starting salary of $5,844.00 per month.
