FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT
The Fine Arts Department requires an instructor to teach a minimum of 3 transfer, undergraduate courses in Drama per semester.
Term 1: (Fall 2013) Teaching three university transfer, undergraduate courses in Drama. Essential courses: Intro to Dramatic Art (DR1490) and Intro to Theatre Art (DR1010). One other course will be taught drawn from the list below.
Term 2: (Winter 2014) Teaching three university transfer, undergraduate courses in Drama. Essential courses: Intro to Dramatic Art (DR1490) and Play Analysis (DR1020). One other course will be taught drawn from the list below.
The other two courses that will be taught, depending on Instructor's experience and interests will be selected from:
• Scene Study 1 (DR2310)/Scene Study 2 (DR3310) taught together
• Topics in Acting: Voice (DR2320)
• Topics in Acting: Movement (DR2340)
• Introduction to Stagecraft (DR1910)
• The Creative Process of Drama (for Education Majors) (DR3210)
A PhD, Master of Arts, or Master of Fine Arts in Drama or Theatre is preferred. Candidates in the process of completing a Graduate Degree in Drama or Theatre will be considered. Please submit a letter outlining your training, experience teaching post secondary Drama/Theatre, your teaching philosophy, and what you hope to gain from teaching Drama at Grande Prairie Regional College.
Grande Prairie Regional College is a comprehensive community college serving NW Alberta, Northern BC, the Yukon, and the NWT. Drama courses at GPRC are offered through the Department of Fine Arts, for university transfer credit at the three Alberta Universities in both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education programs. While some Drama students are declared Drama Majors or Minors, the majority of students are taking Drama courses as options in other programs. The City of Grande Prairie is a rapidly growing hub in NW Alberta with excellent arts and recreation facilities, including the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, Second Street Theatre, The Centre for the Creative Arts, Ovations Showcase Centre, the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre, the new Eastlink Centre multiplex, the Nordic Wapiti Ski Centre, Nitehawk Ski Hill.
This full-time sessional position (sabbatical replacement) will commence August 15, 2013 and end April 30, 2014. Grande Prairie Regional College offers an attractive remuneration package. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
