WELDING PROGRAM, FAIRVIEW CAMPUS
The Opportunity: The Welding Department at GPRC Fairview Campus is located in the heart of Alberta’s Peace Country. The communities that make up the Peace Country are economically dynamic, culturally diverse and rich in recreational opportunities. The Campus currently has an opportunity for an energetic individual with good communication skills to instruct in the program. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in helping students achieve their goals and be able to share their interest in this trade with those students.
Responsibilities: Prepare and present classes in both theory and practical settings, organize and supervise practical assignments, conduct student evaluations, and maintain necessary paper work, participate in course, program and curriculum development, as well as maintain contacts within the industry.
Qualifications: Completion of Alberta Journeyman or Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification, as well as having Alberta B- Pressure Welders certification or the demonstrated ability to obtain the qualification within six months. Three to five years of welding experience preferable including pressure vessels and piping. The successful applicant must be proficient with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, AOC/AOW and SAW and have working level computer skills. Practical skills will be subject to a test. Most importantly, the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the capacity to develop into a competent and inspirational teacher.
Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefit package will be offered to the successful applicant. The position is full time and eligible for tenure. The competition will remain open until filled.
