We are reminiscing about honouring our GPRC Wolves athletes this morning on blog.
The 47thannual Festival of Gold celebration happened on our GPRCGrande Prairie campus this past Friday, March 31.
“Congratulations to all our GPRC athletes for the fantastic work you’re doing inside the classroom and on the field, track, or court,” said GPRC President and CEO, Don Gnatiuk at the celebrations. “GPRC athletes represent our community and region across the province and across Canada. You are ambassadors of not only GPRC but our region. The entire community is proud of your accomplishments.”
Our GPRC Wolves had an incredible year. Bringing home 11 ACACAll Conference awards, 3 provincialACACmedals and representing GPRC at the national level on multiple occasions.
Not only do our athletes excel in their sports of course but many are at the top of their classes. With nine individual athletes receiving a Academic Award this year.
Congratulations to all our athletes that were honoured at Friday’s event.
“Wolves Athletics has always been a big part of our college and our community. You are all part of that strong tradition,” said Gnatiuk. “Be proud of your achievements, you all deserve recognition for what you have accomplished. Celebrate your success!”
GPRC is proud to be standing up for Mental Health Awareness by making some noise for mental health.
Student-athletes and mental health advocates in Alberta are teaming up with RBC Olympians and Sheldon Kennedy to reduce stigma related to mental illness and promote mental health and wellness. Make Some Noise for Mental Health is an award-winning campaign which promotes mental health awareness on 17 post-secondary campuses in 15 communities. Coinciding with ‘Blue Monday’, the campaign begins on January 16 and continues until February 12, 2017.
