GPRC Wolves: Recruits to the Women’s 2020-21 Soccer Team

Recruitment has begun for the 2020-21 soccer season. As if coaching two ACAC sports teams isn’t time consuming enough, GPRC Wolves Men and Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Chris Morgan has also been recruiting. Always on the lookout for talented athletes, Morgan says “it’s never too early to start” and is pleased to be adding to the 2020-21 roster.

Starting the recruitment season off is Kasya Miller and Khloe Webber.

As a current member of the Regional Excel Centre of Saskatchewan, Kasya Miller is bringing a ton of great experience to the Wolf pack. The SK REX Program is one of eight Canada Soccer Regional Excel Centres and is a stepping stone into Canada Soccer Women’s EXCEL National Pathway. Hailing from Warman, Saskatchewan, Miller also brought home a Provincial title in 2017 with her high school team.

Miller will be enrolled in our Engineering program at GPRC and is looking forward to starting her academic and athletic journey. “I am excited to come into a new team and play the sport I love. [GPRC] is a small College and it has what I want for academics and athletics.”

Head Coach, Chris Morgan is delighted to welcome Miller to the squad and kick-off the recruitment season.

“Kasya impressed me at a recent ID Camp with her agility and distribution. I am delighted she has chosen GPRC to further her education and represent the Wolves.”

GPRC Wolves Women’s soccer recruit, Khloe Webber signing for the 2020-21 season.

Khloe Webber who hails from Stony Plain, AB. Webber is already looking forward to her first ACAC soccer match. “I am most excited to play in the ACAC, and to experience the team and community support in that first home opener match. I chose GPRC because of the supportive coaching staff and competitive team environment.”

As a member of the Junior Pandas Soccer program since 2016, Webber is bringing a ton of great experience to the Wolves including her team being named the Seattle Sounders FC Cup Champions in 2017 and securing MVP Award in the Victoria Showcase in 2018. Webber also earned the Captain title of her 2018 Victoria U17 team.

Webber will be enrolled in our Bachelor of Education program at GPRC and is looking forward to starting her academic and athletic journey.

In catching up with Head Coach Chris Morgan, he mentions his delight to have Webber join the squad. “Khloe brings a real presence, enthusiasm and hunger to the game. She is a vocal player and is excellent in 1v1 situations. Khloe was so impressive at the College ID camp I attended, I’m looking forward to welcoming her to the pack and working with such a talented player.”

Sydney Embleton

Program: 1st Year, Business Administration
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Vernon, British Columbia

Hailing from Vernon, B.C., Sydney is in her first year at GPRC and we are so pleased to have her part of the women’s soccer program. A dynamic player with explosive pace, and a tremendous shot, Sydney proved her versatility playing in a number of positions for the team this year. Sydney has an excellent work ethic allied with a feisty competitive nature. Her vibrant personality both on and off the field is a joy to witness. Thank you Sydney for your dedication to the Wolves!

Alex Joseph

Program: 4th Year, Open Studies
Position: Forward
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York

Alex Joseph is a forward in his second ACAC season with the Wolves. A Brooklyn, New York native, Alex is a dynamic forward who was heavily relied on, and helped the Wolves finish 11-13, just outside of the playoffs. Next season, Alex will be depended on and play a large role in leading the Wolves to the playoffs. Thank you Alex for your dedication to the Wolves!

Danja Fredrickson #9

Program: 1st Year, Bachelor of Kinesiology
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Surrey, British Columbia

Danja took a big leap of faith when she made the big decision leaving her Vancouver roots to join the Wolves Soccer family here in Grande Prairie and we’re so glad she did! Danja had an excellent first season and played a vital role as our holding midfield player. Danja’s game intelligence, combative nature and her field vision were instrumental in every game during the season. A quiet athlete off the pitch, Danja comes to life and is fiercely competitive when the whistle blows and play starts. Danja will play a large role in the pack next season as women’s soccer strive for medals! Thank you Danja for your dedication to the Wolves!

 

Chloe Keay #8

Program: 2nd Year, Bachelor of Science Nursing
Position: Libero
Hometown: Grande Prairie, Alberta

Chloe is a second year defensive specialist. She is a student in the Bachelor of Nursing program at GPRC and is a very focused student-athlete. Chloe was a recipient of the CCAA – ACSC National Scholar Award for the 2017-2018 season. She demonstrates dedication to the weight room, mental training sessions and takes the opportunity for extra training whenever it presents itself. She is a supportive teammate and works diligently to contribute to the team environment both on and off the court. As someone who emulates the Wolves way, Chloe works hard to better herself and her teammates each and every day! Thank you Chloe for your dedication to the Wolves!

Program: 2nd Year, Bachelor of Education
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Spruce Grove, Alberta

Blake Hoogestraat is in his second season with the Wolves. He is a dynamic player who always gives 100% on everything he does both on the field and in the classroom. Blake practices as he plays, with great effort and attention to detail. He always has a willingness to support his teammates and brings a never-say-die attitude to the pitch. Blake is a valued member of the Wolves Soccer Program. Thank you Blake for your dedication to the Wolves.

Mckenna Wolstenholme #12

Program: 3rd Year, University Transfer Bachelor of Education
Position: Libero/Setter
Hometown: Grande Prairie, Alberta

Mckenna Wolstenholme is an extremely hard working individual who takes great pride in her academic and athletic accomplishments. Mckenna was a recipient of the CCAA – ACSC National Scholar Award for the 2017-2018 season, and has the future goal of completing an Education degree. Mckenna is a talented and versatile athlete gifted with speed and a strong ability to read the game. She is a fierce competitor who does not hesitate to pursue a ball and be relentless on defense. Mckenna also brings a strong serving game and setting ability. She also gives back to young volleyball players by coaching at summer camps, and has been a coach with Wolves club for the past 3 seasons! Thank you Mckenna for your dedication to the Wolves.

GPRC Wolves offering Soccer Skills Sessions

GPRC Wolves soccer players and head coach, Chris Morgan are excited to offer young athletes the opportunity to learn from varsity level experience.

#GPRCWolves Soccer teams will be hosting Skill Sessions at the Grande Prairie Soccer Association indoor pitch to help players work on their soccer skills including shooting, passing and foot-work skills to help their teams win. These youth athletes will go through drills and get to play scrimmages to perfect their new skills.

These sessions will be hosted February 10, 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m and will be put on by current Wolves soccer players and Head Coach, Chris.

They will be open to U9 – U11 year old players.

The cost will be $75 for all 3 sessions.
