Friday night saw the first quarter played very evenly, with the Ooks having the slight advantage, up 19-17 after 10 minutes. The Wolves responded with a great second quarter, going 20-14 to lead the game 37-33 at half. The Wolves kept pace with the Ooks, winning the third quarter 16-15 and the fourth quarter 23-20, resulting in a Wolves victory. The Wolves shot 44% from the field, and had a whopping 38 points in the paint Friday night.
The Wolves also improved their Free Throw percentage, by going 15/20 for 75%. Logan Rempel was Player of the Game on Friday night with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Fifth year guard Kenny Johnson had another strong performance scoring 31 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and third year post Ryan Pelster had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
The Wolves and Ooks returned to action Saturday afternoon, with the Wolves looking for their second consecutive sweep and fifth win in a row. The teams would be tied at 20 after one quarter, and the Ooks outscored the Wolves 30-19 in the second quarter to lead 50-39 at half. The Wolves began to claw back, winning the third quarter 16-15 to cut the deficit to 10 after three quarters. The Wolves, lead by Kenny Johnson, went at the Ooks in the fourth quarter to have a 84-81 lead with less than 10 seconds to play. The Ooks were able to get a contested three-point shot off to tie the game at 84 and force overtime. The Overtime saw the game see-saw back and forth, with both teams sharing the lead throughout the five minute overtime. Both teams scored 13 in the extra time, resulting in a second overtime. The second overtime saw the Ooks take the lead and never let go, outscoring the Wolves 18-8 in the second overtime and beating the Wolves 112-105. The Wolves were lead by fifth year guard Kenny Johnson, who scored an amazing 58 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. First year guards Jonathan Mueller and Logan Rempel, as well as third year post Ryan Pelster all contributed with 10 points.
With the split against the Ooks, the Wolves have a 5-3 record, sitting second in the North standings.
The Wolves now finish out the first semester schedule on the road, first visiting the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder.
