GPRC Wolves: New Recruit to the Men’s Volleyball Team

GPRC Wolves Men’s Volleyball Head Coach, Mitch Schneider is pleased to announce the signing of Zachariah Ohori to the program.

GPRC Wolves Men’s Volleyball new recruit, Zachariah Ohori. Zach is committing to the Wolves for the 2019-20 season.

Hailing from Prince George, British Columbia, Zachariah (Zach) is bringing a ton of great experience to the Wolves this upcoming season. Zach brought home the Provincial Championship in 2019 with his BC U18 team, an upgrade from the bronze provincial medal he brought home with his BC U16 team in 2017. Also in 2017, Zach brought home a silver medal at the Western Nationals with his U16 Club team. Finally, in 2016, he brought home a provincial silver with his BC U15 team.

Zach is looking forward to starting his post-secondary education at GPRC as he’s enrolled in a Bachelor of Science, University Transfer program. He is most looking forward to “playing at a post-secondary level of volleyball and connecting with the Grande Prairie community.” Zach is looking forward to attending GPRC thanks to its “great academic options financial support put in place for its student-athletes.”

Head Coach Schneider is looking forward to welcoming Zachariah to the squad this upcoming season.

“The men’s volleyball team is excited to welcome Zach to the program.  He brings tremendous experience as a well-rounded volleyball player who has shared team successes by winning medals at the National level as well as Provincially in BC.  Zach has experience playing in multiple positions and he comes from an excellent volleyball program in Prince George.  We know he has had great competitive experiences and he has been well trained, it is awesome to have Zach join the Wolves.”

GPRC Wolves Men’s Volleyball new recruit, Trey Sanderson. Trey is committing to the Wolves for the 2019-20 season.

Heading to Grande Prairie from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Trey Sanderson is looking forward to joining the wolf pack and continuing to play volleyball with his Olds College Broncos teammate, Lane Matthews. Trey played for the Broncos last ACAC season, and before that brought home multiple wins with his high school team.

Trey is looking forward to continuing his education at GPRC, where he will be studying business. He is most looking forward to “getting to know all the athletes and coaches at GPRC.” He’s excited to “get some ACAC wins and hopefully a medal under our belt.”

Head Coach Schneider is looking forward to having Trey out on the court in the upcoming season.

“Trey brings experience and versatility to our program that will help add a piece to our puzzle as we build toward our team goals for the fall.  His experience in the ACAC’s South Conference will certainly help add depth and competitiveness for next season.”

GPRC Wolves Men’s Volleyball new recruit, Lane Matthews. Lane is committing to the Wolves for the 2019-20 season.

Joining the pack from Villeneuve, Alberta, Lane is bringing a ton of great experience to the squad. Most recently, Lane was named Male Athlete of the Year in 2018 for the Olds College Broncos.

Lane is looking forward to continuing his education at GPRC, where he will be studying business. He is most looking forward to “being a part of a new culture and school, and being able to bring his attributes to the team.” Another key factor in why Lane chose GPRC was because he gave him the opportunity to watch over his little sister, Lana who will be joining the Wolves Women’s Volleyball team next season.

Head Coach Schneider is looking forward to having Lane out on the court in the upcoming season. “We are excited to welcome Lane to our program. His experience, maturity, and competitiveness are going to make him a great fit for us and help us towards achieving our team goals next season.”

GPRC Wolves Men’s Volleyball new recruit, Josh Dumont. Josh is committing to the Wolves for the 2019-20 season.

Hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Josh is bringing a ton of great experience to the Wolves this upcoming season including playing in the GPRC Wolves Volleyball All-Star game in grade 11 and this past December while in grade 12 . The soon-to-be St. Joseph Catholic High School graduate was part of the gold winning Team Alberta at the 2018 Arctic Winter Games, was crowned the 2017 Tournament All-Star at the Kelowna Best of the West tournament and brought home a silver medal in 2017 at the Les Jeux de la Francaphonie Canadienne.

Josh is excited to join the wolf pack and start his Bachelor of Education degree at GPRC. He is looking forward to representing and competing for his hometown and also being challenged at the ACAC level to help reach his goals of continuously bettering his skills and becoming a better athlete.

Head Coach Schneider is looking forward to having Josh out on the court in the upcoming season. “Josh is an exciting athlete who has been an excellent leader and competitor through his high school and club career. We are proud to have Josh joining the program to continue to compete for Grande Prairie!”

New Women’s Basketball Recruit!

The GPRC Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of Carly Rombs to the Women’s Basketball program.

Carly, who captained the 2017-18 St. Joes Ceinahs has committed to the 2018-19 season with the Wolves. She chose GPRC because she was not ready to hang up her basketball shoes and saw staying in her hometown as the perfect opportunity to continue to grow and develop as a player. Head Coach Mandy Botham says that Carly will bring relentless defense and competitive drive to the squad and is pleased that she has decided to stay local, and become a Wolf.

President’s Scholarship Award

President’s Scholarship Award

GPRC is excited to announce a new entrance award for Alberta students starting college in September 2017!

This award is a scholarship that covers full tuition and fees for the first year of studies at GPRC and will be granted to the five top students entering their first year at GPRC, in any program of study.

Here is the best part – every 2017 Alberta high school graduate is eligible for this award!

All you need to do is apply for admission to GPRC by August 1, 2017 and you are automatically considered for one of the five awards being offered. If you are selected for this scholarship, you must confirm registration to GPRC and acceptance of the award offer by August 15th in order to receive it. So keep checking your email!

The GPRC President’s Scholarship Awards will be awarded annually to Alberta high school graduates who apply to GPRC by August 1 of the year in which they graduate from High School. GPRC will identify applicants from Alberta high schools with the highest averages in their high school core subjects, based on transcripts received from the Government of Alberta.

2016 Counselors Update

GPRC was thrilled to host the 2016 Counselors Update yesterday on our Grande Prairie campus.

We had Guidance Counselors from 15 high schools throughout the Peace Region come in to get the latest information from over 10 post-secondary institutions in the Province, including University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Alberta College of Art and Design, Athabasca University and Northern Lakes College.
