Originally from Vancouver Island where he played soccer as a youth growing up, Chris Spaidal has now been in Alberta since 1998. He started coaching at a relatively young age and instantly found a passion for it which has kept involved with coaching for about 15 years already.
Coach Spaidal has worked in various levels of soccer from the grassroots on up to the Canadian College level. He is a Canadian National “B” recognized coach, who has been a coaching course instructor also with ASA for the past few seasons.
Chris has worked with various Alberta teams through the Arctic Winter Games, the Alberta U16 Boys Program at National All-Stars, the Alberta Male Canada Summer Games Team and is the current Head Coach of the GPRC Men’s and Women’s Varsity Soccer Programs as well as the Head Coach of the Alberta U15 Boys. The 2010-11and 2012-13 ACAC Men’s North Soccer Coach of the year says his biggest goal is “always to develop players to push themselves to reach the next level”, and is exemplified by players moving on to professional clubs such as Whitecaps, FC Edmonton and National team identification. He has coached 4 players who have represented Canada in recent U17 Fifa World Cups and several others who represented Canada on the National stage at both the U20 and Senior Team levels. Coach Spaidal has also achieved his United States Soccer Federation National “B” license and is working towards his Canadian “A” License.
