Wolves Minor Basketball Program
Watch for Fall 2017 Registration dates!
The Wolves Minor Basketball Program runs for 8 weeks from the end of September until late November, with all of the age groups playing on Sunday afternoons in the timeframe of 12:30pm-5:30pm. Age groups will now be run as Skill Sessions, ran by main instructors, with 2/3 of the time focused on learning fundamentals of the game and the remainder of the time being focused on games and scrimmages. This is a fun league where everyone gets equal instruction and equal playing time.
Lead Instructor – Maren Roberts
With a lifetime of basketball experience, Maren Roberts joins the Wolves Minor Basketball program, as the Lead Instructor.
A successful University Athlete, Roberts played 5 years with the Simon Fraser University Clan, winning two CIS National Championships, including a 45 game winning streak in the 2004-5 season and undefeated in the 2001-2 season. In addition to CIS success, Roberts also competed with Team BC winning Gold Medals at Canada Summer Games in 2001 and Western Canada Summer Games in 1999.
Roberts, a classroom teacher at Aspen Grove School, and a NCCP certified coach, has been in Grande Prairie the last three years, coaching young children and molding young athletes. An instructor with the Wolves Minor Basketball program last year, Roberts brings a strong professional presence to the program, and as a patient and passionate coach with a keen interest in developing the basketball skills of young athletes, she is indeed an asset to the program, and our community.
