1. Motivation for the Online Experience!
Tuesday, October 6, 2020 | 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Struggling? Wondering why you're doing it? Thriving? Wondering why this seems easier? Overwhelmed by the process of an online course rather than the content of the course? Attend this session to explore the dynamic field of motivation and look for an underlying "why" for what the challenges may be. Or, simply attend to appreciate the opportunity to explore and enhance your existing motivation for learning!
2. Confidence is Yours to Build!
Tuesday, October 27, 2020 | 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Express yourself! Wait... do I need feedback to know how to do this? What happens if I receive "critical feedback" and am sitting aimlessly in my new office chair at home and am unsure of how to move forward? Look at confidence as a construct under your control. Note your mindset for how you experience different post-secondary opportunities... Are you set in your ways, or perhaps more flexible than you thought?! Confidence is about YOU! Not about "what you do well or not well". Let's strengthen those confidence skills and flex a little mental muscle for our upcoming academic opportunities!
3. Coping... no, THRVING in an online learning environment!
Wednesday, November 18, 2020 | 6:30pm - 7:30pm
If I wanted to cope, I would just ask a person to do the minimum, eat the minimum, walk the minimum, sleep the minimum (wait, that would be awesome). BUT, we want to THRIVE! So, we need to lift a little more, while exploring and examining a new and perhaps uncertain learning environment. Just like a face to face classroom, becoming "familiar" is not confidence. Anyone who took my classes knew there was always a twist to keep us engaged. Thus, students LOOKED for the twist and became competent in handling not only the content, but the twists that life throws at us. Let's grow together!
4. Exam Anxiety: This is a REAL thing!
Tuesday, November 24, 2020 | 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Ok, at least the anxiety is the real thing. The exam, well, I guess that is also. How did they became a pairing, a duo, a coupling? We made them this way. An exam is NOT an anxious thing - it is a piece (or multiple pieces) of paper. Or, in this case, multiple PDF pages to scroll past, or questions to scan on a screen. Regardless, let's work together to get to know this anxiety-friend, note strategies to thrive in preparing for a different exam experience, and get to know this process a little better. Who knows, maybe exams will just become that... an exam. Let's focus on one thing at a time, shall we? Together?
