Seemann Signs German Pro Contract
July 9, 2008
While most people return from their summer trips with postcards or key-chains, graduated Wolves forward, Jen Seemann returned from her visit of Germany with something different. Seemann, who traveled as a member of the ‘Out West Elite’ basketball team, returned to Grande Prairie with a German professional basketball contract.
Seemann signed a one-year contract with the Speyer-Schifferstadt Towers of the DBBL, a professional basketball league located in Germany. The 2008 ACAC Female Basketball Player of the Year & CCAA All-Canadian will begin her pro career in September, when she travels to Speyer, Germany to don her trademark #7 for with her new club.
Since her college career ended earlier this year, Seemann began working with the prestigious, Out West Elite program that featured some of the best CIS University Players in Western Canada, including CIS Player Of The Year, Lani Gibbons and National Team member, Erica McGuiness. Seemann was the only CCAA College athlete on the elite squad. After a two week training camp, the team, coached by experienced coaches Cory Russell and Bill Mitchell, headed for a two-week tour of Europe against some of the top female players in the world. The squad faced top-level teams from Holland, Great Britain, Belgium and Germany, as they travelled all over Europe for two weeks.
The Wolves All-Time leading scorer and rebounder is now back in Grande Prairie, where she will continue to work as a registered nurse until she heads off to Germany in the fall.
