Wolves Take One From Top Thunder Team

To be the best, you have to beat the best and that is what the GPRC Wolves did this weekend, taking one victory from the first place, Concordia Thunder. The Wolves opened their home game schedule with a 75-70 victory against the Thunder on Friday but lost the rematch 73-67 Saturday afternoon.
On Halloween night, the Wolves found themselves down early against Concordia, trailing by as much as thirteen in the second quarter and nine at the halftime break. However, in the second half, the Wolves started hitting the glass and eventually outrebounded Concordia 54-37. Melissa Buhler led the way with her second ‘double/double’ of the year with seventeen points and ten rebounds. Tia Gerwatoski had fourteen points while both Laura Dunsdon and Jaelle Duinker had twelve for the squad.
In the Saturday afternoon rematch, the talented Thunder team shot their way to a six point victory. Erin Slemp led the squad with seventeen points while Jaelle Duinker scored sixteen points. Tia Gerwatoski wrapped up another successful weekend, scoring fourteen points and twelve rebounds. Forward, Laura Dunsdon also had a strong rebounding night, grabbing thirteen on Saturday.
The GPRC Wolves now sit at a strong 5-1 record and hit the road to play the MacEwan Griffins (4-2) on November 7 – 8 th. The Wolves return home on November 14-15 th to play the Kings University College Eagles.
