Wolves honour departing trio
The Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves honoured three graduating players prior to last Friday’s basketball game against The King’s University College Eagles.
In a pre-game ceremony, fifth-year Wolves forward Jenn Seemann, as well as guards Erin Slemp and Erica Rude, shared the spotlight.
“Jenn is our first-ever fifth-year player,” said Gravengard.
“Her stats are outstanding. (She has) over 800 rebounds in her five years here. She has over 1,200 points for her five years here. She’s just a phenomenal player and she’s going to be irreplaceable.”
Slemp was a third-year player on the Concordia University College Thunder team that won nationals before coming to the Wolves den two years ago.
“Erin is a phenomenal player and we were blessed that she stepped into the gym two years ago and decided to come back and play basketball,” said Gravengard.
“She’s a great defender, a good shooter and a hustle inspiration.
“When she dives for a ball everybody else starts picking up the momentum and goes right with it.”
A product of Beaverlodge, Rude put in three years down south at Prairie Bible College before heading back north to the Peace Country.
“She’s a great leader on the floor, has tons to contribute,” said Gravengard.
“She’s excellent on defence and she’s the person that sits in the background that you don’t notice that brings a lot to the team. She’s just a natural leader, you can’t teach that.”
