Wolves Add Two Guards to Next Season’s Squad
April 11, 2008
The Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves Women’s Basketball team held another successful ID Camp last weekend and are pleased to announce the commitment of two outstanding out-of-province guards, Hailey Grayston (Yellowknife, NWT) and Chelsey Thorne (Prince George, BC) that are certain to make an impact for the Wolves in September.
From Sir John Franklin High School in Yellowknife, Hailey Grayston is a lightning quick guard, who uses her athleticism and speed to be effective on both ends of the floor and will fit perfectly into the Wolves up tempo style of play. Grayston joins the Wolves after most recently, helping lead Team NWT to a bronze medal in the 2008 Arctic Winter Games in March. She was a team co-captain and led the squad in scoring. The 07/08 season also saw Hailey named MVP at the NWT Senior High School Championships, in which her team won gold.
Chelsey Thorne is yet another standout basketball player that joins the GPRC Wolves from Prince George, BC. A tenacious defender that can create offense with her speed and hustle, Chelsey was named to the Prince George City All-Star team this year after capping off a successful career at Kelly Road Secondary School. In her time with the team, Thorne collected numerous top defensive player awards, many all-star accolades and was named team MVP two years in a row. She was also team captain for the squad this season and led them in scoring.
These two exciting, talented guards will fit in perfectly with the strong group of returning players that are returning to the Wolves for the 2008/2009 season.
