GRANDE PRAIRIE CAMPUS CONVOCATION (The ceremony)
The Convocation ceremony will be held on May 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the College gymnasium.
PARKING
All College parking lots will be available for graduates and guests. Please note that if you or your guests park in a metered stall or Pay and Park stall and do not pay, a ticket will be issued. All other stalls are free on a first-come, first-parked basis.
COSTUME (What to wear)
Students must be wearing graduation gowns in order to be in the student procession.
The academic gowns are black. Students receiving a diploma will wear a white vee stole and a white cap. Students receiving a certificate will wear a red vee stole and a red cap. Collaborative students receiving a degree will wear the appropriate hood and a black cap. Apprentices will wear a gray vee stole and gray cap.
Caps (mortarboards) are worn squarely on the head with the tassel to the right, switching the tassel to the left once you have shaken hands, etc. and are exiting the stage.
Women’s dresses under the academic gowns should be simple in cut and no longer than calf length. Please choose your shoes carefully, you will be required to walk up and down stairs, extremely high heels can cause you a problem.
Corsages and jewellery are not worn with academic gowns. If it should be necessary to bring a handbag, you are asked to leave it in the gowning up room (the room will be locked and secure). You will not be permitted to carry your handbag in the student procession.
Rental gowns, stoles and hoods must be returned after the ceremony. The caps and tassels are mementos and are yours to keep.
