Emergency Preparedness

Home » Security » Emergency Preparedness

GPRC must be as prepared as reasonably possible to react and recover from emergencies and unplanned failures that affect people, property, the environment and the continuity of critical services. Emergencies will be responded to by Security, Emergency Response Team members, Evacuation Supervisors, the Emergency Executive Team and Fairview’s Emergency Operation Centre’s Team in conjunction with external emergency response organizations: fire, medical and police.

An emergency is an event that requires prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to: protect the health, safety and welfare of people and/or to limit damage to property and/or to ensure the continuation of College activities while there are threats affecting the surrounding community. An emergency could be caused by the forces of nature, a disease or other health risk and by an act whether intentional or otherwise, which by its nature or magnitude, requires coordinated response procedures. These procedures are distinct from normal day-to-day operations.

GPRC has an obligation to protect and ensure the health and safety of students, staff, faculty, visitors and the surrounding community in the event of an emergency or disaster situation. GPRC is committed to respond to all emergencies on campus in an effective and timely manner.

The Campus Emergency Response Plans on this website are guides produced for students, staff and faculty, who are not involved in the emergency response, to follow during an emergency.

Instructions specifically for Grande Prairie Campus will be denoted as GP
Instructions specifically for Fairview Campus will be denoted as FV
