What is Moodle?
Moodle is an online Learning Management System (similar to WebCT or BlackBoard). The word Moodle is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle is a Learning Management System used by instructors to create Web Sites to post course resources, notes, handouts, assignments, grades, quizzes, and to facilitate online communication between students. It is a password-protected environment that you can access 24/7 from any computer with Internet access.

Logging in to Moodle
Students
- Login using your GPRC IT account. This is your 7-digit student number (i.e. 4100001) and network password. The same credentials used to login to PC's in the student labs.
Note: Your instructor will indicate if your program is being offered in Moodle rather than BlackBoard. If your course is being offered in Moodle, then you will not have access to the course until the course begins.

Faculty and Staff
- Faculty and Staff login to Moodle using ther GPRC IT accounts. These are the same credentials used to login to computers on campus of GPRC webmail.

- The creation of Moodle courses.
- Registration issues / student enrollments.
- Problems with the Moodle site, missing files, or backups

Moodle Training
Moodle 101 Course:
- All staff will automatically have access to the Moodle 101 course which contains reference materials on Moodle. The course can be accessed directly at http://moodle.gprc.ab.ca/course/view.php?id=48
Training sessions consist of:
- One-on-one training Sessions.
- Drop-in help. Visit the Educational Technologies Centre on the second floor of the library (F314).
- Group training sessions will be made available starting in Fall 2009.
Please email edtechrequests@gprc.ab.ca to arrange a session. Elluminate sessions can be arranged for instructors teaching off-campus.
