Multimedia Lab

Digital Production Services

There are three computers available in the Multimedia Lab for GPRC students, faculty and staff. Each computer has Windows Vista with Microsoft Office 2007 (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word) as well as the features listed below.

Audio Editing and Duplicating

• Capture audio from audiocassette, CD, or microphone
• Combine sounds, speech and music into edited programs
• Output finished projects to CD, DVD or web-ready files
• High-speed duplication of Audiocassettes and CDs available
• Software: Audacity and Ulead VideoStudio Plus

CD/DVD Creation and Duplicating

• Create Audio, Data and Multimedia CDs
• Create Video DVDs with multilayer menus
• High-speed duplication of CDs and DVDs available
• Software: Adobe Captivate, Nero Ultra Edition and Ulead VideoStudio

Photo Editing

• Quick & easy touchups or advanced photo-enhancement software available
• Optimize images for printing, desktop publishing, web publishing or email
• Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements

Project Planning & Help

• Technician assistance available in the Multimedia lab Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
• Advice on planning and executing your multimedia project
• Assistance with using our equipment and software to produce your project

Scanning

• Scan images in B/W, colour or grayscale
• Scan printed documents into editable text files or MS Word documents
• Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements, Caere OmniPage Pro, and Irfanview

Tape and Disc Duplicating

• Copy video from Betamax, 8mm, Digital8, Hi8, MiniDV, U-matic, VHS and VHS-C tape formats
• Time-based corrector/amplifier provides clear, bright copies to VHS or DVD
• High-speed duplication of VHS tapes or DVDs available

Video Editing

• Capture video from 8mm, Digital8, Hi8, MiniDV, VHS or VHS-C tape formats
• Edit video in Storyboard mode (quick & easy) or Multi-track mode (powerful)
• Output edited programs to VHS, DVD or web-ready files
• Software: Ulead VideoStudio Plus

Web Page Creation

• Create web pages from existing MS Word, Publisher or Powerpoint documents or start from scratch
• Add images, sounds and video to your web project
• Software: Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Expression Web
