Homestay Program

Learn the language for daily living from your homestay family as you experience the warmth of Northern hospitality! Learn about Canadian culture and family life from a homestay selected by considering your interests and needs.

A kind homestay family will:

• Help you adapt to life in a Canadian house
• Help you learn local transportation
• Help you learn the banking system
• Provide you with 3 meals a day, every day of the week
• Provide you with your own bedroom and study area

Homestay costs only $600 CDN a month! Homes are near bus routes and within a 15-minute drive to the College. When you arrive, we will pick you up from the airport and take you to your family. This service is free! GPRC also has a Homestay Coordinator who is available to meet with you on campus to see how you are enjoying your home away from home.

A Canadian student will pay an average price of $650/month for a room in Grande Prairie, and this price does NOT include food. Why are our homestay rates so much more affordable? People take in international students because they want to learn about your culture and give you a home away from home. They do not do it to make money because they do not make money. In return for their kindness and generosity, you are expected to keep your bedroom and bathroom clean and to be thoughtful and considerate of your host family.
