Excite
Unlock the potential that is discovered through unlimited creative energy and freedom of expression at GPRC. Acting, improvisation, dynamics of movement and collaboration are explored as the actor in you develops.
Perhaps it’s the magic and the “behind the scenes” of theatre that ignite your imagination. Explore your talents and develop your craft as a theatre technician. We want to nurture your artistic talent by creating the role of your life.
Encourage
Working alongside like-minded individuals who share a common dream is inspiring. We offer practical, hands-on training to talented students that are committed to forging careers as actors. Our diploma programs are intended for students who wish to work in technical theatre or community theatre settings and/or who wish to pursue further professional training in specialized theatre and film. We can provide the education you need to get you to the next “stage” in your career.
Perform
Imagine that all the world’s a stage! An integral part of the drama program is the aspect of performance and at GPRC the opportunities to perform and master your craft are endless. We have a dedicated drama performance hall and a fabulous 500 seat theatre to open the doors to your creative spirit.
Contribute
Collaboration with our theatre community breathes life in to many of the GPRC productions. In theatre, a large family of actors and technicians that share a love for the stage grows to support many of our productions. You will learn from and work alongside fellow actors and students that are driven by the same motivation. You will celebrate together in your successes.
Where to go next?
Most actors begin their journey when they choose a career in theatre. Your enthusiasm to perform will continue to motivate you as you seek out new challenges.
There are many different choices out there from working in live productions on stage to festivals and film, to directing and playwriting. Drama and performance students may pursue further studies towards a BA drama major or a BA/Bed (Drama) program as well as gain the skills necessary to audition for a BFA in Acting.
For the technical theatre grad, the growing demand in the theatre and film industry may provide careers in lighting and sound, set and costume design, stage management and technical direction. Other graduates may further their studies at universities and film schools throughout Canada.
