Inspire
An artist looks at the world a little differently. Learning to express oneself is a journey and an adventure all at the same time. At GPRC, we will inspire, motivate and encourage you to explore the visual process through drawing, visual fundamentals, painting, sculpture, photography and design. Through several art history courses you will learn about the artists of today while appreciating the many influences from our past.
Create
You will have the advantage of working closely with our highly trained faculty. Small classroom sizes and one on one attention from instructors who are artists in their own right, will bring out your utmost potential. You will work in an exciting and creative environment alongside people who share your same passion. You will be challenged as an artist to dream, to set goals and to reach your potential.
Broaden
Our newly transformed facilities provide opportunities for all types of visual art production. You will have access to drawing, painting and sculpture studios, photography labs, a large well-equipped woodshop, welding equipment, a kiln, audiovisual equipment, computer labs and a video-editing suite. Opportunities for growth abound with our Visitor in the Arts series that showcases important artists of our time who have succeeded in their specific discipline. You will celebrate your accomplishments and showcase your talents at various art exhibitions throughout the year.
Where to go next?
We can provide the stepping-stone to endless possibilities. By providing you with a solid foundation, we will give you the skills and confidence you need to venture into the world with a clearer vision. We have many transfer agreements with other colleges and universities in Canada. Many of our students transfer into their 3rd year study at the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Alberta College of Art and Design, and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, as well as the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
Our graduates have gone on to work as teachers, graphic designers and illustrators, entrepreneurs, gallery technicians, gallery administrators and self-employed professional artists. Career possibilities are limitless to an artist as you develop the confidence to pursue your dreams. With hard work, dedication to your vision and passion to realize your goals, anything is possible.
