About Our Department
Vice President, External Relations: Carmen Haakstad
The GPRC Community Relations Department is responsible for leading the College's activities for building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of publics: prospective students, the general public, K-12 educators, prospective donors, alumni, current students, the College's Alumni/ Foundation Board and our College Community. Our primary goal in building these relationships is to support the growth of Grande Prairie Regional College in order to provide continually expanding opportunities in post-secondary education in our region.

The public face of GPRC is presented in part through the publications, promotional materials, media relations, and paid advertisements which are generated by the Communications staff in the Community Relations office. Specific communications are designed for the various publics of GPRC, such as prospective students, influencers, current students, alumni, faculty and staff, and the general public. Communications staff are responsible for the creation and production of College publications such as Wisdom Magazine, the Viewbook and Academic Calendar, and for the management of the GPRC website.
Alumni and Development
Joanne Ballance: Alumni Development Manager
GPRC is committed to building a community of engaged alumni and to provide programs and services that will help keep alumni connected and supported throughout their careers. We are proud of our 30,000 alumni who add their knowledge and experience to our region, our province and our country. GPRC alumni make their mark as successful business owners, community advocates, native and political leaders, physicians, lawyers, judges and world-class medical researchers - just to name a new of the diverse career paths our alumni have taken.
College Special Events
Amanda Cyr: Special Events Coordinator
Community Relations supports excellence in education at GPRC by running successful Annual Fund Raising events designed to involve our communities in fun events to raise money for student awards programs. These include the College Classic Golf Tournament, the GPRC President's Ball and the President's Awards Reception.

Administrative Support
Hazel Liley: Administrative Assistant
Community Relations supports excellence in education at GPRC by securing donations for capital projects and student awards programs. The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting these activities, the Executive Director, the College's Foundation Board of Directors and Alumni Assocation.
