Program
Introduction
Campus Operations is a service department responsive to the physical needs of the College. The department is responsible for operation, maintenance, renovations, alterations and improvements to owned and leased facilities and property, and for the provision of associated services. This page provides information on Campus Operations and a quick reference of specific services. Access Cards
Access cards are initiated through the Department of Human Resources and can be picked up from Campus Operations, Room E223. Sessional and term certain employees will be required to return their access card at the end of their appointments. If you lose your access card, please notify Campus Operations immediately so your card can be canceled and a replacement issued.
Buildings
If you have a problem with windows, doors, heating, cooling, power, etc., please report them to Campus Operations. Do not tamper with thermostats. If you are in the dark and need lights replaced in your office, call 2808 for assistance.
College Vehicles

Fleet vehicles are available to authorized personnel to conduct College business. Vehicle keys may be obtained from Campus Operations, Room E223, Main Campus, on the date of booking. Please call 2808 with details of vehicle booking and on completion of Vehicle Request form, Campus Operations will forward to the appropriate Chairperson for approval. Note: All out-of-province travel must be approved by the appropriate divisional Vice President. To avoid disappointment, book your vehicle early. If you do not require the vehicle you booked, chances are someone else could use it. Please cancel your reservations promptly. During the college year, the fleet vehicles are heavily used.
Courier/Mail Delivery and Shipping/Receiving
Inter-campus mail delivery is provided once a day, as is parcel delivery and pick up from the bus depot and government courier. All large parcels should be delivered to Shipping and Receiving by 11 am for same day service. Envelopes/small parcels should be delivered to Campus Operations (E223) by 11:00 am for same day service.
Custodial Services
Covering all aspects of cleaning in the college is also the responsibility of Campus Operations. Custodial Services are contracted out and responsibilities are to clean all areas of main campus. The Custodial Contractor is also involved in setting up furniture for special functions.

Electrical Problems
Contact Campus Operations at 2808. Do not attempt any repairs yourself.
Furniture & Equipment
Surplus furniture and equipment is the responsibility of the Purchasing Officer located in Financial Services
Minor repairs to office furniture are requested through Campus Operations. The maintenance workers can also help you with picture hanging, mounting bulletin boards, etc.
Repairs to equipment are limited to items directly involved in the operation of the building, i.e. plumbing and heating equipment. Any capital equipment, including computers, purchased for instructional or administrational purposes must be repaired under department budgets or through service agreements purchased for the equipment.
Grounds
All aspects of grounds maintenance are also the responsibility of Campus Operations. Lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds and exterior signage are maintained by the Grounds personnel. Snow removal, sanding and salting of roads and sidewalks is a major responsibility in the winter. If you notice dangerous conditions, i.e. icy sidewalks, broken glass, please call 2808 to have the condition cleared.
On staff within the Grounds area is a Horticultural Technician who looks after the indoor plants and trees and arranges flowers for special College functions (among other duties). Grounds personnel are also involved with non-instructional areas of welding, including repairs, designing and fabricating of special projects, etc.
The College fleet is maintaned by a Vehicle Technician who also works for Grounds.
Keys
Approval must be obtained from the department's Chairperson before keys will be issued. Please complete a Key Request Form, and return it to Campus Operations. Sessional and term-certain employees will be required to return their keys at the end of their appointments.
Parking
There are six types of parking on campus.- Reserved Parking (Powered)
- Reserved Parking (Non Powered)
- Metered Parking
- Disabled Parking
- Service Vehicle Parking
- Ticket Dispensers available in Lots A, C, D, & F (Visitors Welcome)
APP Parking Services patrols parking areas issuing tickets to parking offenders.
Plumbing Problems
If you notice any problems within the college building, please call 2808 and report them.

Renovations
Work requests are to be completed for minor renovations to department work areas. Please have your completed work request approved by your department's chairperson and forward it to E223. If you are requesting the carpenter build bookcases, computer monitor stands, etc., a work request should be completed and forwarded with sizes and designs specified.
Campus Operations must be consulted prior to purchasing capital equipment. If renovations are necessary, or if services such as electricity, gas, or plumbing are required for the installation of the equipment, please consult with Campus Operations on the cost of the renovations and/or the cost of providing the service before budget is approved for the purchase.
Safety Concerns
If you have any questions or concerns about College safety policies and procedures, or questions on the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Waste Disposal or WHMIS Regulations, call Campus Operations at 2808.
Security
Campus Operations is also responsible for the security of College buildings and grounds. Presently, All Peace Protection, is contracted to provide security for the College. If you have security concerns, please contact 2808 during office hours, or 2700 after hours. Please report any thefts or acts of vandalism to Security. Locked out? - come to E223 or call 2808 and we will provide you with a spare key to open your office. If after hours, call 2700 and leave a message on the pager, and a security guard will come and open the door for you.
Signage
Submit requests for signs, name/desk plates and name tags to Campus Operations. Any suggestions pertaining to directional signage both inside and outside the main building are welcome.
Storage
Departments are required to provide storage for their own items. Storage of general and surplus items is maintained by Campus Operations. If you have surplus items to place in general storage, please advise the Purchasing Officer prior to storing the items so accurate inventory records may be maintained.
Paper Recycling Program
Recycle bins are located in different areas of the College for white paper, coloured/mixed coloured paper, envelopes, file folders etc. as stated on bins. Computer paper can be put in original boxes and picked up for collection by Campus Operations.
